Every year, Fire and Rescue will test and flush the city owned fire hydrants. They began testing yesterday on September 25 and hope to be finished by early November. Clarksville Gas and Water company also flushes the hydrants throughout the year. This is done to help check for flow, pressure, remove sediments, remove iron compounds, as well as keeps the water from becoming stagnate. When the hydrants are being flushed, the surrounding residents may notice discoloration in their water and/or lack of pressure. The water is still safe to drink and is not affected by the process in any way. If you have any questions regarding the hydrant flushing/testing schedule, feel free to contact Clarksville Gas and Water. If you are out of Clarksville City limits, and want to know about possible flushing in the County, call your local water company.
